2006 Beyondblue Depression in the Workplace Program

In response to the issue of depression in the workplace, Beyondblue has developed a program available throughout Australia. 'beyondblue' accredited trainers are able to visit organisations to deliver workplace training aimed at increasing awareness and understanding about depression and other related disorders such as substance abuse and anxiety.

The chief aim of the program is to increase awareness and understanding about depression and its appropriate management in a workplace setting. Key objectives: highlight the common signs and symptoms of depression; challenge preconceptions and prejudices; demonstrate appropriate responses; and allow meaningful evaluation. The program can be delivered in direct consultation or using a train-the-trainer model. The program is specifically tailored to meet the needs of the organisation. To date, the program has been successfully implemented and evaluated across a number of organisations including WorkCover SA and the Australian Taxation Office.
