Action on Disability within Ethnic Communities (ADEC)

A community based organisation which represents the rights and needs of people of non-English speaking background with a disability and their carers.

If you prefer to speak in your first language, contact ADEC with your name, language spoken, your telephone number and ADEC will contact you through the Telephone Interpreter Service.

ADEC assists people of Non-English speaking background with a disability their families and carers by:

  • providing information about services and referring you to services which can help you
  • If you are experiencing discrimination or difficulties with services, ADEC can support you to address your complaints to the relevant government departments and other services
  • conducting non-English speaking support groups
  • educating consumers via workshops, seminars and educational resources
  • offering access to a library, internet access and computerised data bases
  • offering training programs to service providers, community organisations and government departments
  • Providing consultancy and specialist policy development advice

    How to get there

    Train, Tram

    Tram: Take the Coburg or North Coburg Trams (numbers 19 or 20) along Sydney Road, get off at Munro St (tram stop no. 32) and walk towards the railway line in Munro Street. Train: Take the Upfield line train to Coburg Station and walk towards Munro Street. Car: Three hour parking across the street from ADEC.
