ABC Radio Broadcaster and mental health advocate, Craig Hamilton, will be hosting a fundraising event for Lisa Devereaux who is about to trek across to the South Pole to raise awareness of Bipolar Disorder.

Lisa Devereaux has been selected to trek to the South Pole to raise awareness for Bipolar Disorder and she has invited ABC Radio Broadcaster and mental health advocate, Craig Hamilton, to host a special fundraising event for her expedition during Mental Health week.

Lisa says through a close friendship she has experienced first-hand the difficulty accessing mental health care for the diagnosis and treatment of Bipolar Disorder. Therefore her vision is to raise community awareness of Bipolar Disorder and to recognise the help and support provided by carers, friends and family.

She says the fundraising behind her expedition will go towards assisting in better medication and diagnosis for bipolar disorder.

To coincide with her trek, Lise has launched a blog: http://www.thelastdegree.com
