Mindframe for Law-Enforcement

last modified 01/05/2007 09:53

In addition to the extensive projects under the Mindfame National Media Initiative a new project was introduced in February 2007.

Mindframe for Law-Enforcement will investigate the role of the police and courts as sources of information for the media when it reports on suicide and mental illness.

The project is managed by the Hunter Institute of Mental Health in Newcastle, NSW and will include a six-month scoping study to assess the ways in which the police and courts provide information to the media.

Mindframe hopes to use this opportunity to engage with the sector.

The scoping study will include recommendations for future work in light of a review of the international literature, a review of Australian policies, a three-month monitoring of Australian news; and consultations with journalists, the police and court systems in each state and territory.
