New Website on good practice in healthcare for migrants and minority groups
The Queen Mary University of London has been working on an European project on good practice in healthcare for migrants and minorities, and is now launching a new website to mark its hardwork.
Mighealthnet information website will be officially launched on 15 January 2009.
The Mighealthnet project aims to give professionals, policy makers, researchers, educators and representatives of migrant and minority groups easy access to a dynamically evolving body of knowledge and a virtual network of expertise in the field of migrant health.
This can be drawn upon when trying to develop good practices, and will help healthcare services meet the challenge of providing adequate care to increasingly multicultural European populations.
17 European countries have been involved in the creation of country specific, interactive information
websites (wikis) designed to enable expert knowledge-sharing.
The new site provides general information on migration and health, good practice and centres of expertise; as well as specific documentation of specific migrant and minority groups such as African migrants, Middle Eastern migrants, Asian migrants, traveller communities and others.
MIGHEALTHNET is for migrants and minority groups, healthcare professionals, policy makers, researchers, educators and representatives of migrants and minority groups.
The UK MIGHEALTHNET website is www.mighealth.net/uk
If you wish to attend the launch it is on: 15 January 2009 from 2-530pm at Queen Mary, University of London - Charterhouse Square, Dawson Hall, Sir Anthony Dawson Room, London.
The organisers say this gathering will provide an excellent opportunity for networking with academics and professionals working in the area of migrant and minority health.
The event also aims to raise a discussion on current developments in the field of migrant and minority health and the potential of a virtual network of expertise in sharing good practice initiatives. Speakers include Prof Kamaldeep Bhui, Prof David Ingleby and Ms. Emily Crowley from Diverse Minds.
